During the week of November 4–11, Pender County buildings will display green lighting on our flags to honor veterans. We encourage businesses and residents to join us by swapping out one light bulb in your business or home for a green one.
This can be an exterior light visible to neighbors and passersby or an interior light that sparks meaningful conversations with friends. By shining a green light, we show our veterans they are seen, appreciated, and supported.
What is Operation Green Light?
Operation Green Light is a nationwide initiative dedicated to supporting military veterans and raising awareness of the unique challenges they may encounter.
Although most Americans strongly support our veterans, that support often goes unseen or unfelt by the men and women who have served. Operation Greenlight aims to change that.
How can I get involved?
Residents:
We invite you to switch one light bulb in your home to a green bulb. This could be an outdoor light visible to neighbors and passersby or an indoor light that sparks conversation with friends.
Show your support on social media with the hashtag #OperationGreenLight!
Business:
Similar to residents invite you to switch one light bulb inside or outside your business to a green bulb. This could be an outdoor light visible to neighbors and passersby or an indoor light that sparks conversation with friends.
Show your support on social media with the hashtag #OperationGreenLight!
Do you need a green light bulb?
You can find one at your local hardware store, department store, or online retailer. We have bulbs available at Veteran Services and would be happy to share them.
