The library board of trustees is created by law to act as the advisory body of the library system in its role as a public institution. They are set library policies in several areas. They are appointed by the Pender County Commissioners and serve terms of three years for no longer than ten years. One representative is appointed from the home district of each commissioner.
The board regularly meets on a quarterly basis at 10:00 a.m. on the third Thursday of January, April, July, and October. Special meetings are called as needed.
