Solid Waste Stickers

Solid waste stickers are good for two years, September 1, 2024 - August 31, 2026.

  • You should expect to see an annual charge on your property taxes.
  • The Pender County Board of Commissioners has this rate set at $200 for the 2024 tax year.

Convenience Sites began enforcing the usage of the new stickers as of October 1, 2024

  • If you do not have an active sticker dated September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2026, you will be turned away from entering or using the convenience sites.

How to obtain solid waste stickers?

Pender County Utilities no longer handles payment or processing of solid waste stickers and cannot assist you. 

If you were billed the $200 solid waste fee on your 2024 property tax statement, you should have received two stickers in the mail in September 2024.

  • The stickers would have been in a white envelope from the Pender County Solid Waste Department.
  • If you did not receive these in the mail, please call or visit the Pender County Tax Office (Hours: Monday – Friday 8 am-5 pm) or visit the Pender County Annex Solid Waste Department for assistance (Hours: Monday – Friday 9 am-3 pm)

    • Staff will verify that you were charged the fee on your 2024 tax bill and then give you the stickers. We can also mail them to you if you prefer.

If you were not charged the $200 solid waste fee on your 2024 property tax bill 

  • Reasons may include a newly built house in 2024, living in a mobile home park that is classified as a business per the Solid Waste Ordinance, etc.

  • You will need to pay the $200 solid waste fee before receiving your two stickers

  • Fees can be paid for, and stickers can be obtained at either the Pender County Tax Office (Hours: Monday – Friday 8 am-5 pm) or the Pender County Annex Solid Waste Department (Hours: Monday – Friday 9 am-3 pm)
    • The Pender County Tax Office can only accept Cash and Checks, while the Pender County Annex Solid Waste Dept can only accept Credit Cards (Visa/ Mastercard/Discover). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

 If you would like to receive extra stickers

  • An extra sticker costs $40.00 per sticker.
    •   These can be paid for and obtained at either the Pender County Tax Office (Hours: Monday – Friday 8 am-5 pm) or the Pender County Annex Solid Waste Department (Hours: Monday – Friday 9 am-3 pm)

Important items to remember

  • Pender Water & Sewer no longer processes or accepts payments for solid waste stickers and cannot assist you. 
  • The Pender County Tax Office can accept Cash & Check ONLY; The Pender County Annex Solid Waste Dept can only accept Credit Cards (Visa/ Mastercard/Discover). We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
