The Pender County Board of Commissioners recognized the Burgaw Debs softball team this week as the players prepare to compete in the Dixie Softball World Series later this month.

The Debs will travel to Ruston, Louisiana, to represent both Pender County and the state of North Carolina in the national tournament, taking place July 25–29.

The team earned its spot in the World Series after winning the 2024 Dixie Youth Debs State Championship and was recently named the 2025 Dixie Youth 50th Anniversary Debs State Champions.

“This is a talented group of young athletes, and we’re proud to see them represent North Carolina on a national stage,” said Zach White, Pender County Parks and Recreation Director. “We wish them good luck and safe travels as they head to Louisiana.”

The Board of Commissioners applauded the team’s dedication, sportsmanship, and continued commitment to excellence.
