EOC Activation Announced as Pender County Roads Remain Closed Due to Flooding

PENDER COUNTY, NC — Due to ongoing river flooding compounded by recent storms, the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will activate at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

Rivers are expected to continue rising through mid-week, leading to significant road closures and access issues. The following roads are currently closed and will remain closed throughout the week:

  • NC Highway 53 between Shaw Highway and Maple Hill
  • Croomsbridge Road
  • Old Maple Hill Road

Floodwaters are expected to impact additional areas, including:

  • White Stocking Road
  • Shaw Highway
  • Holly Shelter Road
  • River Bend, River Birch, and Alligator Lake subdivisions off Highway 53
  • Battleground Road in Currie

Residents in these areas are advised to exercise extreme caution and monitor local updates for further information on road conditions and weather developments.
