BURGAW, NC - Pender County Library welcomes acclaimed local author and military historian Rona Simmons to discuss her latest book "No Average Day" on Thursday, January 23, at 5:00 pm at the Main Library in Burgaw, 103 S. Cowan St. in Burgaw.
During a single devastating day in the autumn of 1944, more than 2,600 American service members lost their lives in combat zones across the globe—marking the deadliest day for U.S. forces in World War II. Through detailed research and compelling storytelling, Simmons reconstructs this crucial day through the experiences of ordinary soldiers, sailors, and airmen. Experience their gripping stories and learn about the lesser-known events that shaped history!
A recipient of two gold medals from the Military Writers Society of America, Simmons brings personal connection to her work as the daughter of a World War II P-38 fighter pilot.
