Pender County Library Invites Public Input for Design of New Hampstead Branch Library

HAMPSTEAD – Pender County is designing a new, larger library in Hampstead and seeks input from the public to inform the design. This new library will replace the existing Pender County Library Hampstead Branch and will be located on Highway 17 next to the Pender County Government Annex.

To gather information on community needs, a survey is available online at and in paper form at the Hampstead Branch Library (75 Library Drive) and the Main Library in Burgaw (103 S. Cowan Street). The survey is open from May 15 to June 23.

In addition, there will be several public input sessions at the Hampstead Branch Library: Tuesday, June 11 at 7:00 pm and Thursday, June 13 at 1:30 pm and 7:00 pm. There will also be a special session for parents on Wednesday, June 12 at 10:30 am, during which library staff will provide activities for children in a neighboring room.

The survey and in-person sessions aim to gather valuable insights into the community’s needs and interests. These insights will play a crucial role in shaping the design of the new library. By participating, community members can directly influence the initial stages of the design process, ensuring the architecture team understands the community’s needs from the start. We encourage all community members to participate in the survey and attend the public input sessions to share your ideas and help shape the future of our library!
