Local Burning Ban Issued for Pender County

For Immediate Release

May 30, 2019

A County burning ban has been issued for Pender County by the Pender County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Extremely dry weather conditions, and hazardous forest fire conditions have prompted the Pender County Fire Marshal to issue a burning ban effective today at 5:00 pm. The Pender County Fire Marshal has issued this ban on all outdoor burning. These bans will remain in effect until fire danger conditions improve.  This means that no outdoor burning can occur from ALL Residential Structures outward to 100 Ft. until this ban is lifted.

The use of outdoor grills for cooking is still allowed under this ban; however, the grills must have a cover that can be placed over the coals once cooking is complete.  Open-pit cooking or open flames for cooking purposes are not allowed.

Persons needing more information should contact the Pender County Fire Marshal at 910-259-1210
