Solid waste sites resume normal schedules
PENDER COUNTY – All Pender County Solid Waste Sites resumed their normal schedules, effective Sept. 29, with the exception of Canetuck and Whitestocking convenience centers.
“Canetuck will re-open this Wednesday, Oct. 3, and resume its normal schedule which are Wednesdays, 7a.m.- 1 p.m. and Saturdays, 7 a.m.- 7 p.m.,” said Kenny Keel, Pender County Utilities director. “Whitestocking remains closed until further notice, due to flooding damage. We are working on solutions to re-open as soon as possible. Area residents are encouraged to take their solid waste to Calico Bay convenience center, or other open locations.”
Pender County Solid Waste stickers are required at all convenience center locations to dispose of waste. The waiver of this requirement last week was due to private garbage collectors not being in operation, but most if not all these companies have resumed collection this week or earlier.
