BURGAW – With much sadness, the Pender County Tourism department and its’ Ghost Walk partners announce the Ghost Walk for 2018 is cancelled.
“Due to damage caused by Hurricane Florence and the toll the storm has taken on our community, we have opted to cancel this year’s Ghost Walk,” said Tammy Proctor, Pender County tourism director.
“With Hurricane Michael tracking through the Carolinas, we know this was the right decision,” said Stephanie Key, art director of the Ghost Walk. “We are looking on the bright side. We are ahead in the planning of the 2019 Ghost Walk.”
Ticket holders have the option of donating the ticket sales to Hurricane Florence relief efforts in Pender County, or take a raincheck for next year’s Ghost Walk, or request a refund.
“The majority of ticket holders are donating their ticket sales to hurricane relief efforts,” said Key. “We are grateful for the donations.”
Ghost Walk of Pender’s Past is an award winning, two-day event that is made possible through the collaboration with Pender County Historical Society, Historical Society of Topsail Island, Pender Arts Council, Pender County Schools, Moores Creek National Battlefield, Pender County Library, and Poplar Grove Plantation.
