Pender County relaxes curfew
PENDER COUNTY – The curfew enacted after Hurricane Florence has been relaxed. The 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew has been relaxed. The new curfew hours are 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
“As power is being restored and businesses are opened, we felt it was time to ease the curfew,” said George Brown, chairman of the Pender County Board of Commissioners.
Pender County Sheriff Carson Smith said the curfew was necessary because of the hazards and debris on the roads following Hurricane Florence.
“There are flood areas of the county,” said Tom Collins, Pender County Emergency Manager. “We urge caution Pender County residents to avoid fallen power lines and standing water on the roadways.”
Pender County Emergency Management will post updates on the Facebook page at facebook.com/penderem and on the website http://www.penderem.com. If you need assistance call the EM office at 910- 259-1210.
