Whether you’re running for a vacant office, or you’ve been appointed to fill a vacant seat, you must file a Notice of Candidacy Form with the County Board of Elections Office. Notices of candidacy may not be delivered by surrogates or staff. Only the candidate may file the notice of candidacy and pay the filing fee. This must happen in person and cannot be mailed or emailed.
All candidates who file for office must have an active Campaign Finance Committee. Paperwork to register a new committee must be filed within 10 days of organizing the committee or filing a Notice of Candidacy; whichever occurs first.
